Review: Business on a Shoestring – Boosting Sales by Bob Gorton
Business on a Shoestring – Boosting Sales by Bob Gorton
This book is a must read for anyone who wants to grow their business! An uncomplicated, practical and easy read packed with common sense advice and techniques.
The first chapters deal with why you would want to grow – followed by some sensible suggestions for looking at your own financials and avoiding some pitfalls before taking next steps. The remainder of the book covers essential areas that many of us struggle with – getting the price right; identifying and finding the right customers; prospecting techniques and promoting the business.
A business book I found difficult to put down and which made me want to start working on our business even harder! It will be a book which is read cover to cover several times and dipped into often for inspiration - a great motivator!
Review: The Customer is Bothering Me: How to Change Attitudes, Improve Results and Grow Your Bottom Line
The Customer is Bothering Me: How to Change Attitudes, Improve Results and Grow Your Bottom Line by Shelle Rose Charvet
An interesting book providing useful insights via a programme developed from NLP principles. It outlines and explains the way people use words in both a sales context and in the way they complain. In some instances, I found the terminology a little complex and confusing (and the promotion of other Shelle media products irritating!). I also had to reread some areas to understand the concept being put forward. Overall though there were some good practical ideas and suggestions for dealing with customers and we’ll be trying to implement some of the concepts here at Paper Mountain over the coming few months. 3.5 ticks
